The interview series of the global boys group JO1 born in the survival audition program "PRODUCE 101 JAPAN" has started. The second group interview features four members: Ohira Shosei, Tsurubo Shion, Kimata Syoya, Kinjou Sukai.

JO1 Interview Series

To commemorate the release of their debut single "PROTOSTAR" released on March 4, Model Press will publish a group & solo interview for 14 consecutive days.

In the group interview which was divided into 4:4:3 we will listen to carefully as they talked about their parts we should watch out in the songs from "PROTOSTAR", the hardships they had experienced since their formation in December last year, their daily lives, episodes with their roommates, dreams of the group, etc.

Kimata: Ready! "La Pa Pam".

Kinjou: Why did you say “ready" (lol)?

Ohira: I don't know what to do (lol).

-By the way, why did you choose "La Pa Pam"?

Kimata: I hope everyone will come to the live concert and enjoy it.

Ohira: Absolutely.

-The choreography is also easy to remember, right?

Tsurubo: Isn't the first choreography of the song impressive (Doing the blow trumpet choreography of the "La Pa Pam")?

-Everyone is synchronized and cool!

Ohira: Thank you. Talking about the characteristics of choreography, there is a choreography where everyone blows a trumpet, so I want you to pay attention to it the most.

Kimata: I want you to pay attention to the scene where Shosei blows a trumpet.

Tsurubo: Hahaha (lol).

Ohira: Everyone is doing (the blowing a trumpet) (lol). It's a different gap from the past, or it's a song with a totally different image, so I want you to see it too.

Kimata: Of course, especially watch out for the gap of Shosei (Kimata is pushing for Ohira for some reason).

Ohira: Yes! Please get hit by the gap.

Kimata: Disgusting (lol)!

Tsurubo: I’ve been used, darn it (lol).

Kinjou: In the album, there are 2 limited-edition albums and 1 regular album, each of which contains different songs, but I was able to sing "YOUNG" which I couldn't do at the final, so I personally want them to listen to it. As for the title song, "Mugendai" means that our possibility is "Infinite" and the possibility of fans is also "Infinite", and the choreography has a manly choreography with a strong waving hand. I want you to pay attention to that.

-Then, you’re saying you want people to also pay attention to choreography of "Mugendai”.

Tsurubo: The concept is different for all 3 songs of (Recorded songs), "Mugendai" is our debut song, "La Pa Pam" is violent and cool, and "Running" has great lyrics and is calm.

Kimata: Is it fleeting?

Tsurubo: Yes, it's a fleeting song. I think it would be great if you like various songs from various aspects.

【Ohira Shosei×Tsurubo Shion×Kimata Syoya×Kinjouu Sukai】The most difficult thing you’ve done since formation

Ohira: The training camp in Korea right after the formation of JO1 was the hardest. Dance and singing were driven to the limit, and it was the most fun and good for me, but it was tough.

-Was the schedule quite tight?

Ohira: Yeah, it's pretty packed. I did it from morning till night.

-Kinjou said at the fanmeeting that he had run out of oxygen.

Kinjo: Yes. Of course, I had some physical difficulties, but the first reason was that I came to "PRODUCE 101 JAPAN" while I had no skills or career, as soon as I was chosen as a member, I went to a training camp in Korea. People who had won each other got together to make the same goal, but the members talked about it in their own way, and I was quite driven into a corner mentally. They say, "Let's work hard together". Along with that, it was so hard that I was physically deprived of oxygen.

-Do members sometimes have different opinions?

Kimata: Sometimes.

-What do you do in such a case?

Kinjou: When 1 person has an opinion and another person has a different opinion, there are 11 members, so we discuss separately as the listener and the speaker. In the end, they talk to each other like "This part is good, but this part is not." and it's like "Let's take the middle.".

Ohira: That's how it is.

Kinjou: We respect each other, so we don't get on bad even if we say our true feelings. Everything will be positive.

Kimata: What was hard for me was... (Grinning for some reason).

Tsurubo: You’re laughing too much (lol).

Kinjou: Diet (lol)?

Kimata: Oh, that's it! Really. I like eating, but when I’m in a photoshoot, people say, "Did you gain weight?". I usually eat a lot, but I refrain from eating dinner. There are a lot of delicious foods in Korea but I refrain myself from eating. It was hard both mentally and physically.

-It must have been hard both physically and mentally like Kinjou (lol).

Kinjou: The other 3 (Ohira, Tsurubo, Kimata) aside from me, were on a diet.

-What kind of diet did everyone go on?

Kimata: We didn't eat dinner, did we?

Ohira: Yes, I skip dinner.

Kimata: Shosei really ate nothing.

Tsurubo: It's not good to not eat properly.

Ohira: But moving without eating is the best way to lose weight.

Tsurubo: No, you’ll lose weight, but it's not good for your health.

Kimata: But the next time you eat something like that, you'll be "BOINK" all at once (the action of inflating the abdomen). You’ll rebound.

Tsurubo: It really absorbs all at once.

Ohira: Never going on.

Kimata: You just ate your lunch (lol).

Ohira: Fufu (lol). But I will do my best until I think I lost some weight.

Kimata: He rebounds quickly, be careful.

Ohira: I’ll be careful (lol).

Kimata: (Ohira) only eats salad in the morning, lunch and dinner. And sometimes he doesn't eat anything.

Ohira: I only take supplements. It's like that.

-Is it still physically okay?

Ohira: No problem at all.

Kinjo: Starting with Shosei, some people started eating vegetables. From there, everyone started eating vegetables.

-You have a very healthy diet.

Kinjou: Like imitating (Ohira).

Tsurubo: I think I'll go on a diet once.

Kimata: We used to go to a sauna.

Kinjou: Yeah, we went there.

Ohira: We’ve been to the sauna.

-During training camp in Korea?

Ohira: Yes.

Kinjou: The hotel has a sauna.

Ohira: We went to the sauna and the gym.

Kimata: Korean hotels don't have many bathtubs, so we went to a sauna to relax.

(Kimata and Tsurubo suddenly start doing their rap and do a high touch.)

Tsurubo: That was boring, wasn’t it? I'm sorry (lol).

Ohira: It was really hard for the reporters, really (lol).

Tsurubo: What was painful for me than dancing was that there were less socks and pants. I should have brought more. It was the hardest for me because I did the laundry frequently.

Ohira: That was the worst.

-Didn't you bring a lot in advance (lol)?

Tsurubo: Yes. I thought, "I wonder if I can go with this much.". It wasn't really enough. To be honest, it was the hardest.

-More than practice?

Kimata: Was it physically and mentally hard?

Ohira: That’s tough~ You’ve driven into a corner because of that? (lol)

Tsurubo: Yes. The physical fatigue of going to the laundry and the lack of socks and pants came mentally.

Kimata: As I always say, I want to go out into the world and be thought of as "THEY'RE AMAZING!".

Tsurubo: My dream is big and I want to go to the world.

Ohira: I've been to America once, and I want to be famous enough to be known by Americans.

Tsurubo: Yehey.

Kimata: Not just in America, right? (Ikemen Voice)?

Ohira: I want it to the extent that as we were walking in America, the music of JO1 is being played anywhere, and be able to do a live concert there.

Kinjo: Not immediately, but we want many people to listen to our music, not only in Japan but also in various races. And then, for example, I'm happy that someone covers our songs, but I want to make it something that makes people think, "It would be better if it’s the members of JO1.". Instead of someone covering our song and people say "This person was better", I want them to think "JO1 is better". I wish we could go high with our skills.

【Ohira Shosei×Tsurubo Shion×Kimata Syoya×Kinjo Sukai “S4”】 A story for the JAM readers during the interviews

This time, 4 people who are known as "S4" , even among the fans, were all born in 2000 and the first letter of their name starts in "S", have gathered.

Before the interview began, when Kimata saw the faces of the members of the group he said, "Oh, S4?". Ohira continued, "Super 4!" and after Kimata said a mysterious word, "Oh, isn't it Suzuki 4?" The members started a comical dialogue named after "S4".

When Kinjou said, "Special 4" Ohira said, "Special 4 is so lame. (lol)". When Kimata continued, "Scooter 4" Ohira said, "That’s Party People (lol)".
